Caves In The Rock – Chapter 22: When These Things Come to Pass

Scroll fragments found in the Cave of Horror (BBC)

OFebruary 16, 2017 Israeli archeologists discovered additional Dead Sea Scroll fragments.

The scrolls uncovered in 2017 were found in a cave labeled the ‘Cave of Horror’ – so named because 40 Jewish skeletons from the Bar Kokhba revolt (133-126 A.D.) were found inside.  The fragments found in the cave were finally made public in March of 2021.  The first set of scrolls were found in 1947, so it’s been 70 years since that first discovery—and it is quite interesting to see what has come to light now.  In the 2017 discovery we find fragments from two of the minor prophets, Zechariah and Nahum—and here is what was reconstructed:

(Zechariah 8:16-17): “These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to one another, render true and perfect justice in your gates. And do not contrive evil against one another, and do not love perjury, because all those are things that I hate—declares the Lord”

(Nahum 1:5-6) “The mountains quake because of Him, and the hills melt. The earth heaves before Him, the world and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before His wrath? Who can resist His fury? His anger pours out like fire, and rocks are shattered because of Him”

These Dead Sea Scroll passages from Zechariah and Nahum are profound, especially given the time within which we live.

In 2017, after an inexplicable election, we see President Donald Trump sworn into office on January 20th.  We then see the above two fragments recovered by Israel on February 16th.  The first of two Great American Eclipses occurs on August 21st (with the second to occur in 2024) and then thirty-three days later, on September 23rd, we witness the appearance of the Revelation 12 sign.  And finally on December 6th, 2017 we watch as the U.S. historically proclaims Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

At the start of 2017 we began a seven-year cycle between two remarkable eclipses—and here we receive at the very start an instruction about ‘the things you are to do.’  We are admonished to speak truth and render perfect justice, because God stands against those that contrive evil and speak lies.  Then we are given more images of God’s wrath and fury, in which hills melt and mountains quake.

As we consider what is happening in today’s world, truthful speech and perfect justice do not seem to define our experiences.  Yet, we are reminded in Zechariah that this is still our responsibility—to speak the truth to one another.  We then see the warnings about justice and perjury…and given that the next passage from Nahum is a testament about what God will do in His anger, should we not view this as yet another warning?

It is not difficult to see meaning in the timing and content of the current scroll fragments.

The first Great American Eclipse that occurred in 2017 appeared in a year that was remarkable all by itself; yet, between that year and what is still to come in 2024—the year of the second Great American Eclipse—we would experience a set of truly unprecedented events.

We would see President Trump hailed as a modern-day King Cyrus in 2018…and then face unrelenting hostility which would result in him getting impeached not once, but twice—before finally getting removed from office in 2020 after one of the most controversial elections in U.S. history.  In 2019 we watched as drought spread, locust outbreaks began, and a virus was released in China.  In 2020, the historic Abraham Accords were signed…and then we witnessed Jonathan Cahn smash a jar of God’s judgement over the U.S.  The symbolic end of U.S. leadership in the world then come one year later under the Biden administration, with our incomprehensible retreat from Afghanistan in 2021.

We have seen unblemished Red Heifers appear and fish swimming in pools at the edge of the Dead Sea; we’ve watched prophets arise and evangelists declare revival has begun; and then witnessed NASA’s successful DART mission–while Tom Horn prophetically warned us that someday we will be hit by the asteroid Apophis.

But there are still many more signs to consider that have occurred in the seven-year window between the ‘American’ eclipses of 2017 and 2024.  Here are just a few.

Statue of Unity, India (indiatvnews)

In 2018, India erected the tallest statue in the world, honoring the image of a man.  Called the ‘Statue of Unity’, the 597-foot-tall statue is dedicated to Indian statesman Vallabhbhai Patel.  This towering monument opened to the public on November 1st, 2018.  The Statue of Unity is almost twice the size of the Statue of Liberty.

At its unveiling, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked “The statue will remind those who question India’s existence that this nation was – is and will be – eternal.

Notre Dame cathedral—the historic symbol of western civilization and religion—would catch fire and burn in April of 2019, with the 750-ton spire of the cathedral collapsing as a result of the intense blaze.

In 2021, it was announced that the restoration plan for Notre Dame would turn from its Christian heritage and instead incorporate elements that would appeal to a cross-section of society.  As such a “discovery trail” will lead visitors through fourteen chapels with themes ranging from social justice to the environment as well as African and Asian specific experiences.  In support of this, “confessional boxes, altars and classical sculptures will be replaced with modern art murals, and new sound and light effects to create emotional spaces” (Quay).

The new Notre Dame design appears to be a politically correct shrine to the current secular age.  Glenn Beck of Blaze TV described the cathedral this way:

“The one world government is being formed now…I think we are seeing the first church [Notre Dame Cathedral] now being dedicated to the new global religion, and it is social justice, environmental justice…that we all know is not just wrong, it is dangerous.  That’s the first church. The Cathedral of Notre Dame is the first church – the global church.  This global church will bring darkness unlike you’ve ever seen” (BlazeTV).

Mt Ebal Curse Table (timesofisrael)

In December 2019—the year of drought, locusts and the start of the Covid-19 pandemic—we witnessed another potentially astonishing sign, when the 3200-year-old ‘Curse Tablet’ was found.  This tiny 2 x 2-centimeter folded lead tablet was found while sifting debris at the archeological site of an alter on Mount Ebal, located near Nablus.  This alter is theorized to be the alter built by Joshua as stated in Joshua 8:30.

Deciphering of the tablet was difficult since the lead tablet could not be unfolded, but researchers finally released this translation:

Cursed, cursed, cursed – cursed by the God YHW.

You will die cursed.

Cursed you will surely die.

Cursed by YHW – cursed, cursed, cursed.

It should be noted that the interpretation of this tablet remains controversial—with some claiming it does not say anything at all—as shown here.  It is unclear how this tablet will hold up to scrutiny over time, but for now it remains interesting that this curse tablet was uncovered in late 2019.

Haggia Sophia (smithsonianmag)

In 2020, the Hagia Sophia—another icon of western civilization—was turned back into a mosque by Turkey, as that country initiated a move away from a secular society.  This action symbolized Turkish President Erdogan’s desire to restore the Islamic Caliphate.  The original Ottoman Caliphate was abolished in 1924.

Originally built in 537 A.D. as the largest Christian church of the Byzantine Empire, the Hagia Sophia became a mosque under the Ottoman empire in 1453, and then was designated a museum in 1935.  In 2020, a Turkish court declared the Hagia Sophia once again as a mosque, with this action described as “the crowning moment of Erdogan’s religious revolution”.  However, Greece considered this move as an “open provocation to the civilized world” (Butler).

In 2021 the United Nations in New York curiously decided to display a winged beast looking statue at its Visitor’s Plaza.  Known as “Alebrije” (meaning ‘guardian’) this statue was created by Jacobo & Maria Angeles and then donated by the city of Oaxaca, Mexico. The statue was a blend of jaguar and eagle and was stated to be designed as a symbol of international peace and safety.  This remained on display until 2022.

The snarling “Guardian of International Pease & Security” drew a lot of attention and certainly invoked both Daniel and Book of Revelation imagery to many.

At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, a 33 ft ‘Raging Bull’ was exhibited as the centerpiece of the opening ceremony.

This mechanical bull moved, breathed out steam and was surrounded by female dancers.  This was stated as symbolizingfemale chain-makers of the Industrial Revolution, trapped by their own circumstances as they produce the bonds that hold others in the slave trade.”  It found a permanent home at Birmingham Street Station in 2023, after a public demand stopped its dismantling.

However, to others this bull invoked images of the ancient god Baal, with the dancers in the ceremony appearing to be engaged in acts of worship.

On November 13, 2022, a set of tablets were symbolically smashed to the ground in the courtyard of the chapel that sits atop Jebel Musa in Egypt; the location of the traditional site of Mt Sinai. The tablets contained new ten commandments focused on climate change and came about as part of the U.N. COP27 conference that took place at the Egyptian resort Sharm el_Sheikh.

The new climate change ten commandments are:

    1. We are stewards of this world
    2. Creation manifests divinity
    3. Everything in life is interconnected
    4. Do no harm
    5. Look after tomorrow
    6. Rise above ego for our world
    7. Change our inner climate
    8. Repent and return
    9. Every action matters
    10. Use mind, open heart

It is not a stretch to the Judeo-Christian worldview that co-opting the Biblical account of Moses is a blasphemous act.

Whether it’s the first ever SatanCon held in 2022, a serpent idol erected in New Orleans in 2022, the golden horned homage to abortion added to the Supreme Court of New York in 2023, the outright Satan worship at the Grammy Awards in 2023, the statue of a naked man breastfeeding a baby placed at Denmark’s Women’s Museum in 2023, or the mocking of Jesus that occurred at Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival in 2023—it just seems to go on and on.

The symbols rapidly appearing in the world are occurring at a breathtaking pace. Yet these are just a few of the events that we can view as signs when seen through the lens of the last days timeline and Book of Revelation.

Still…there is much more to consider.

We have already seen mankind demonstrate its ability to save itself from an asteroid impact with the successful DART mission.  Our technological sophistication is truly breathtaking…but the rate of advancement continues to accelerate.

We now turn to an army that does not break rank, an image that speaks, and a mark without which mankind will not be able to buy or sell.
