From 2017 to 2024, we experienced a seven-year period marked by unparalleled events. At the midpoint we witnessed the spread of worldwide drought, locusts, and pandemic. The global drought of those years has been described as the worst ever recorded with the possibility that 2022 may be the driest year in modern history. The locust plague that spread through 2020 was often characterized as biblical in proportion and unprecedented in modern experience. The Covid-19 pandemic that began in 2019 became a generationally defining event. By 2022 the WFP was describing that year as one of “unprecedented hunger” and projections going forward raised serious alarms about potential famine.
But we should also understand that these events may also be symptoms that can be traced to a greater judgement that began on September 11, 2001.
God looked upon the sins of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah, the defiling of his Temple (refer to Ezekial 8 as well), and the abomination of child sacrifice, and tells Jeremiah that He will now deliver His people to the sword, famine and pestilence:
Jeremiah 32:30-36: “…For the children of Israel have provoked Me only to anger with the work of their hands,’ says the Lord. ‘For this city has been to Me a provocation of My anger and My fury from the day that they built it, even to this day; so I will remove it from before My face … And they have turned to Me the back, and not the face; though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction. But they set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to defile it. And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.’ Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say, ‘It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.”
Repeatedly God proclaims his judgement will come from sword, famine and pestilence:
Jeremiah 29:18: “And I will pursue them with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence; and I will deliver them to trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth—to be a curse, an astonishment, a hissing, and a reproach…”
Jeremiah 24:10: “And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence among them, till they are consumed from the land that I gave to them and their fathers.’”
On September 11th 2001, America experienced a sword brought to her shore, and then spent twenty years wielding the sword in an attempt to avenge this act. Rabbi Jonathan Cahn—who may very well be fulfilling the role of the last days Elijah—repeatedly warned America that harbingers had appeared in the land, but in the years since 911 we not only failed to repent, but we repeatedly expressed our disdain for the God of the Bible.
The culmination came when Jonathan Cahn finally smashed a jar of God’s judgement over the U.S. on the Washington Mall in the fall of 2020.
Following this event came what many view as a fraudulent election, the installation of the Biden administration, a humiliating retreat from Afghanistan, the return of inflation, climbing interest rates, skyrocketing energy prices, coupled with drag queen story hours and men competing in women sports.

The return to power of the Taliban in Afghanistan was most likely a watershed moment marking the end of what has been called the ‘American Century.’ All of this transpired within a seven-year window marked by two ‘Great American Eclipses’.
Repeatedly over the years we have seen references to the 2 Chronicles promise that God will heal our land if we turn from our wicked ways. It was in fact a significant theme at The Return event in the fall of 2020. Here is that passage:
2 Chronicles 7:13-14: “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
As we consider the victory of Donald Trump in the 2024 election, and see his immediate actions to change the direction of America, the sacred assembly held on the National Mall as part of The Return event should come to mind.
It is possible that the mercy moment prayed for at that gathering finally appeared with the inauguration of President Trump in January of 2025.
Yet, given all that transpired during the seven-year period of 2017 to 2024, the question should at least be raised if it’s possible that we are actually much further along in the End Times timeline than we realize.
The Fourth Seal
With the specter of ongoing global hunger present in the world, let’s turn to the Fourth Seal described in Revelation 6:7-8–where hunger is specifically mentioned. Here is that passage:
Revelation 6:7-8: “When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.”
The perfect storm of events of recent years have led not only to a significant increase in current global hunger, but raises the alarm about the future worsening of conditions such that we enter a time of global famine.
Is it possible that a loss of life due to starvation impacting a fourth of the earth is not that far away?
Certainly, the groundwork appears to have been laid given recent events…so it is of note that this might eventually align with the descriptions of the opening of the fourth seal in Revelation 6. Given this, we are left to speculate as to where we actually are in the timeline of End Time events. It may be that we are further along in Revelation 6 than we realize.
Still, given that catastrophic events are scattered throughout history, why should we put extra emphasis on this current time and the current world situation?
To consider this, let’s turn to the signs appearing to this generation—and we will begin with an event that occurred on September 23rd, 2017, when the night sky revealed ‘A Woman Clothed with the Sun’.
